Message about Christmas with a photo reminder of the big man.

Been very busy the last week and a half and going camping this weekend so If I dont say this before "Christmas" I will say it now "Merry Christmas" and I like to use the official name of the holiday and not "Seasons Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" but the official name it is suppossed to have and had before which  was  Jesus's day of birth. The name of the holiday is Christmas not some black friday record sales day. Its a day to give thanks to him and remember him. So sad my own photo labs do not even have christmas written on the cards they sell only "Happy holiday or seasons greetings" We are loosing sight of our faith in the man above. Also sight of whats important in life. So to all of you I wish you a Merry Christmas. Photo of Lighthouse Walton Santa Cruz Harbor.

Dam I love this band. Chris Stapleton just cinches it for me. The Steel Drivers Ghost of Mississippi

(download)

Chris Stapleton has left the band recently to stay at home with his family as he has kids and says he loves his kids and its difficult for him to be on the road. Hard because now the steeldrivers were nominated for best duo at the "Emmy's". Chris deserves the recognition he deserves as well as Tammy on her fiddle. I have never seen two hotter pickers n singers. Chris often reminds me of a young Charlie Daniels when charlie wore glasses and did not have grey hair.

This song and movie have so many life's truths that many have forgotten. Coen Brothers

Picked up my personal copy of the legendary story of "True Grit" today.  My favorite film directors the Coen Brothers did not fall short of my expectations of telling the story from the book. They did not try to fill the shoes of a the original movie. Many uneducated individuals moaned and groaned in their true American hollywood ignorance of films and movies that it was not the same as the John Wayne version. To those I say pay attention and god forbid pick up a book once in a while then maybe you can truly understand the depths of a story and its many levels. Perhaps if they did they might be able to appreciate and understand the old languages of past times or understand latin phrases and their great life meanings. Coen Brothers never let me down. Neither did "Josh Brolin" in his portrayal of Tom Chaney.

Photos from our last Scouts campout at the beach were the kids were learning cooking skills

These are some images from the last campout out we had for the Scouts boys learning their skills for cooking merit badges. On this trip the boys learned more about "Whipping" ropes as well as setting stakes and rainflies to stay dry in the rain and cold. These are life long skills and a lesson learned as shortly after this trip the Japan Earthquake happen reminding all of us how skills like these can make or break us as humans in disaster situation. Many times I often think we have all become too compliant or "Soft" as humans or perhaps to dependent on things being peachy. On trips like this the boys really learn how to adapt and deal with problem solving. All important things in the game of life. Regardless of these important lessons there is the other side which is this they have a lot of fun doing it. They build memories and stories and friendships.

The kid won his "Iron Chef Cook off" competition he had yesterday with the scouts.

I was pretty impressed with what he and his team mates made for the competition. They all had to do this under a time limit just like the tv show. All the boys really dig a fantastic job under the pressure with their meals. All the parents were pretty surprised at what the kids have learned about cooking from their camp outs.

Should have posted this a year ago of a friend reluctantly singing her rendition of "Jolene"

(download)

This friend of mine with 2 kids is a postal delivery mom who sings for a hobby. She often thinks she is not all that good but I think she is amazing. I bugged her for about 5 months to do a video of her rendition of "Jolene" for me to show people. The reason she sings it in the dark is because the power went out during a thunder storm which I told her totally added to the video and song. Let me know what you think.
